Known to everyone as WNJYO, the West Norfolk Jubilee Youth Orchestra offers players in West Norfolk who are aged under 21 the opportunity to play music as part of a group and to give themselves a challenge. It also provides players with the opportunity to meet fellow musicians socially and build friendships through playing as part of a team.
WNJYO was originally setup in 1977, using funds from the Queen's Silver Jubilee Appeal. The then President, Sir Malcolm Arnold, said 'WNJYO was to foster the musical education and training of young musicians in the area to encourage a high standard of musicianship'. From then, WNJYO has evolved and developed, and is now celebrating its 40th birthday. WNJYO has undertaken a large number of international tours too, allowing players to travel all over the World.
We're always on the lookout for new players. Rehearsals are held at Springwood High School, King’s Lynn on Wednesday evenings during school term time. We start at 7.00pm and finish at 8:30.
